Priv.-Doz. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Inform. Andreas Zabel from the Institute of Machining Technology celebrated his 25th anniversary of service.

Andreas Zabel's career began in 1990 in what was then the engineering computer science program (now applied computer science) at TU Dortmund University.

During his studies, he first worked as a student assistant at Fraunhofer IML. In 1997, he then moved to the ISF. In the same year, Zabel completed his diploma thesis under the supervision of Prof. Müller from the Computer Science Department and the then director of the ISF, Prof. Weinert. It was also Prof. Weinert who offered Andreas Zabel a position as a research assistant at the institute, which he took up in 1998. Only one year later, he took over the management of the department "Computer Application in Manufacturing". Since 2001, Andreas Zabel has been working as a senior engineer at ISF. In 2003, he received his doctorate as Dr.-Ing., and in 2010 his habilitation as Privatdozent.

During his 25 years of service at the Institute of Machining Technology, Andreas Zabel has published around 180 scientific publications and has led various research projects. His current research focus is on the numerical simulation of machining processes.

On the occasion of his many years of service at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the current Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Michael Henke, presented Andreas Zabel with his 25th service anniversary certificate.
