  • Can I study my degree programme (mechanical engineering, logistics, industrial engineering) at the foreign university? 
  • Do I fulfil the requirements of the foreign university (e.g. language certificate)? 
  •  How does the application process work at the foreign university?
  • What documents do I need to submit (e.g. letter of recommendation, letter of motivation)? 
  • Which courses can I attend at the foreign university and will they be recognised here? Check with the coordinators here and abroad 
  • Do the semester times of the desired university overlap with those of the TU? If so, liaise with lecturers (regarding examinations etc.)
  • Do I need a visa to study in my country of choice? www.visum.de/ 
  • What other documents do I need to live and study in my country of choice (e.g. certificate of good conduct, proof of financial means)?
  • Do I speak the local language or is it absolutely necessary to speak the local language? (Some courses may only be offered in the local language!)
  • Do I need certain vaccinations to be able to enter the country?
  • Are there student halls of residence at my chosen university?
  • Look for other accommodation if necessary
  • Subletting/ cancelling a flat/ room in Dortmund
  • Take out health insurance/supplementary insurance 
  • Change money (if necessary)
  • Open an account abroad/ credit card
