Prof. Marcel Bartz is the sustainability officer for the Department of Mechanical Engineering

On behalf of the Dean's Office, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Professor Bartz for his dedicated work as sustainability officer. Since February, he has already provided important impetus and successfully launched the newly established Sustainability Working Group.

Through the Sustainability Working Group, Professor Bartz aims to further advance the department’s sustainable development in collaboration with staff members. This involves, for example, integrating sustainability-related content more deeply into teaching, raising the profile of relevant research activities, implementing resource-efficient processes in faculty operations, and fostering knowledge transfer and collaboration within the university.

For me, a key priority is to make the department’s mission statement on sustainability and circularity more visible in research and teaching. At the same time, I would like to further strengthen the exchange between the chairs on sustainability topics. I look forward to making a significant impact in the area of sustainability at TU Dortmund University, working together with the Sustainability Office and the sustainability officers from the other departments.
