The facilities of TU Dortmund University are located on two campuses, the larger North Campus and the smaller South Campus. In addition, some university facilities are located in the adjacent Dortmund Technology Park as well as in the city center and the wider urban area.

Is the city safe?
In general, Germany is a very safe location. As a student, you can feel very safe in Dortmund. The city maintains close ties with the police, the public order office and the city guard.
How do I spend my free time?
Dortmund is a city of culture: in addition to the theater, opera and philharmonic hall, there are numerous museums and exhibitions. Did you know that the Dortmund Concert Hall is one of the 21 best in Europe? As a TU Dortmund student, you can get reduced or even free admission to many places.
The city of Dortmund is a green metropolis: almost half of Dortmund's urban area consists of open spaces. So there's plenty of space to unwind in one of the many parks. Throughout the year, the city's numerous parks offer a range of cultural activities, from festivals and open-air cinema to a medieval Christmas market. If you want to take a breath in nature, you don't have to walk far.
The TU Dortmund is a campus university: everything is close together here, the grounds are beautifully green, especially during the summer semester, and are also easily accessible by bike. The time between lectures can be ideally spent outdoors.
Going out with friends and enjoying life: whether by day or by night, outdoors or under a roof - Dortmund has plenty of opportunities in store. Festivals, street parties and markets are held regularly. And Dortmund's clubs have the right party for every musical taste. As a student city, Dortmund offers an endless supply of iconic and individual restaurants, cafes, bars and discos.
How do I get to Dortmund?
Dortmund is located in the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia. Whether by airport, train, freeways or public transport - Dortmund is an important hub in the center of Europe in all transport networks. Dortmund Airport offers destinations throughout Europe. Ideal for a city trip or spontaneous get away on a long weekend.
From Dortmund, the westbound train crosses the Ruhr region with its 53 cities. Cologne, Düsseldorf or Oberhausen are just around the corner and can be reached by train in less than an hour. As a student of the TU Dortmund, you can even travel for free! Heading southeast, on the other hand, you can reach the ski resorts in the Sauerland region in just two hours in winter.
