On February 6, 2026, the Institute of Transport Logistics celebrated its 25th anniversary together with guests from business, teaching and research. The event provided an opportunity to look back on the past years and trace the development of the institute from its beginnings as the Chair of Transport Systems and Logistics (VSL) to its current role as a permanent fixture in teaching and research at TU Dortmund University.

The celebration also marked Professor Uwe Clausen's 25th anniversary as Institute Director at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (Fraunhofer IML).

As head of the institute, Professor Uwe Clausen can look back on more than 45 successfully supervised doctorates and more than 800 supervised theses. Together with his team, he has also organized and attended numerous specialist events in recent years.

Manfred Bayer, Rector of the Technical University of Dortmund and Moritz Schulze Darup, Dean of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, congratulated him with a word of welcome. Professor Alice Kirchheim (Chair of Materials Handling and Warehousing), Professor Michael Henke (Chair of Corporate Logistics) and former senior engineer Dr. Christiane Geiger also paid tribute to the many years of successful collaboration in teaching and research.

A concluding panel discussion with experts from science and practice opened up a variety of perspectives on the topic of multimodal logistics and provided important impetus for the future development of this central field of activity.

Professor Uwe Clausen opens the event with a welcome speech.
