TU Dortmund presents itself at the open day

Get to know TU Dortmund University in all its facets - that's what visitors can do on Saturday, October 22: From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the university will open its doors and offer exciting insights into research, studies and administration - as well as into areas that are usually not open to the public. Prospective students can also find out about the courses offered by the faculties.

For this year's Open Day, the faculties and institutions of TU Dortmund University have once again put together a varied program of lectures, guided tours, exhibitions and hands-on activities. For example, those interested can visit the electron storage ring DELTA, watch robots play soccer, or attend a lecture in the popular lecture series "Zwischen Brötchen und Borussia - Moderne Physik für Alle" (Between Buns and Borussia - Modern Physics for Everyone).

At numerous events, visitors can also get active and creative themselves: In the model-making workshop, Christmas decorations are made together and in the glass-blowing workshop, a glass ball can be produced independently. The experiment "May the force be with you" of the Institute of Mechanics invites you to try out challenges of stability and dynamics. Also back on the program is the popular guided tour through the "Underworld", the supply shafts of the TU Dortmund.

In addition, the TU Dortmund offers various events on current topics: The Institute of Philosophy and Political Science classifies the war in Ukraine in a lecture, the Institute of Energy Systems, Energy Efficiency and Energy Economics informs about the power supply of the future and the Institute of Journalism explains in a workshop what helps against disinformation on the net.

From study advising to musical performances

Numerous faculties and the Central Student Advisory Service also provide information about studying at the TU Dortmund. In cooperation with the German Society for Railway History, the University Library presents the exhibition "Loks und Leute - Eisenbahnen bewegendie TU Dortmund" (Locomotives and People - Railways Movethe TU Dortmund), including an expert lecture. At the end of the Open Day, the ensemble "Mask & Music" presents works from various musicals in the Audimax.

The Chair of Materials Handling and Warehousing of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering invites you to a drone show in its logistics research hall (Emil-Figge-Str. 73a). Dates for this are respectively:

12:00 - 12:30 p.m. 1:00 - 1:30 p.m. 2:00 - 2:30 p.m.

 

All visitors are invited to discover the campus and see the places where teaching and research usually take place. The ride on the H-Bahn, which connects the two campuses of the university, is free of charge from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on this day. The Studierendenwerk will provide visitors with drinks and snacks between 10 am and 3 pm. A medical mask or FFP2 mask must be worn in all buildings and on the H-Bahn.
