The Department of Mechanical Engineering at TU Dortmund University and the Department of Engineering at Robert Morris University (RMU) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, have signed a cooperation agreement. The agreement places academic collaboration between the two institutions on a long-term footing.
The agreement followed the research and teaching visit of Dr. Jérôme Rutinowski, Deputy Head of Research & Operations at the Chair of Material Handling and Warehousing (FLW), who served this semester as a Rooney International Scholar at RMU. During his stay, he contributed his expertise in artificial intelligence and robotics to the Departments of Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering, and also taught courses on topics such as the European Union and German culture in the Departments of Political Science and Economics. The cooperation now signed grew out of the contacts established during this time.
The agreement came about through close coordination between Dr. Jérôme Rutinowski and Dr. Sushil Acharya (Vice President for Grants, Research, and Global Initiatives), who jointly initiated it.
The collaboration focuses in particular on academic education and the exchange of academic staff. Planned activities include joint research projects, the organization of joint symposia, workshops, and training programs, as well as opportunities for the mobility of researchers, students, and visiting scholars.
