Dr. Tim-Philip Eisenhardt, Head of Human Resources thyssenkrupp Uhde and Head of the Dortmund site, and Prof. Manfred Bayer, Rector of TU Dortmund University, opened the award ceremony.
The Hans Uhde Prize was awarded to graduates from the departments of Computer Science, Biological and Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering.
Jan Phillip Detke from the Department of Mechanical Engineering received the award for his "Theoretical and experimental investigation of atomized liquids for cooling in screw compressors".
In order to achieve the greenhouse gas reduction targets to curb climate change, large parts of the generation of process steam and heat must be electrified. In this context, the Department of Fluid Technology is investigating water vapor screw compressors with liquid injection for use in high-temperature heat pumps.
As part of the master's thesis, the evaporation process of the liquid water injected into the working chambers of a steam screw compressor for cooling purposes was investigated. To this end, Mr. Detke carried out both theoretical and experimental investigations.
In addition to the four graduates from TU Dortmund University, four graduates from Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts were also honored: Steffen Röttger, Sebastian Rosewick, Fabienne Stahl and Nick Schuto. Dr. Rolf Siefert received the award for outstanding achievements in over 25 years at thyssenkrupp Uhde GmbH.
