As the winter semester begins in October, we extend a warm welcome to all new students! Whether you’re pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree, we offer a variety of events at the start of the winter semester to help you get oriented, prepare for your studies, and build a network. Find out more now about the math preliminary courses, the first-semester and master’s orientation events, and the basic internship.

Preliminary Courses

Three reasons why you should take a preliminary course:

  1. Get familiar with how things work at the university
  2. Refresh your high school knowledge - stress-free, ungraded, and at your own pace
  3. Get to know your fellow students

Pre-Course in Math for Bachelor’s Students

The math preparatory course is designed for first-year students in the Bachelor’s programs in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Logistics. It offers the opportunity to brush up on important mathematical fundamentals, fill in knowledge gaps, and ease the transition into your studies.

Advanced Mathematics III Preparatory Course for Master’s Students

The Preparatory Course in Advanced Mathematics III is designed for mechanical engineering students who are transferring to TU Dortmund University to begin their master’s studies. At the same time, the course offers a great opportunity to get to know other master’s students and make initial connections.

Internship Before Starting the Bachelor's Programs in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering

The 6-week basic internship in the Bachelor’s programs in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering is designed to prepare students for their studies and to provide a basic understanding of manufacturing technology (and, for Industrial Engineering students, electrical engineering as well).

Prospective students are advised to complete the entire basic internship before the start of their studies.
