Congratulations to the winners from the Department of Mechanical Engineering

Numerous prizes were awarded in front of around 800 guests in the Audimax.
At the TU Dortmund University's annual academic celebration on December 16, 2025, mechanical engineering graduate Tobias Schrage received the best of the year award and Dr. Hendrik van der Valk the dissertation award of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Congratulations on this great achievement!

Guido Baranowski, Chairman of the Society of Friends of TU Dortmund University, and Prof. Wiebke Möhring, Vice-President Academic Affairs, jointly presented the best of the year awards for outstanding theses in the 17 departments.

Prof. Nele McElvany, Vice-President Research, awarded the dissertation prizes for outstanding doctoral theses.

The Academic Year Celebration is the festive end of the year.
Together with around 800 guests in the Audimax, Rector Prof. Manfred Bayer looked at current developments at TU Dortmund University and described a vision of the future in which TU Dortmund University, together with Ruhr-Universität Bochum, carries knowledge from the universities into society to an even greater extent than before and makes it effective there.
Guest speaker Prof. Arthur Seibold from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München spoke about securing social systems and presented empirical perspectives on the future of pensions.
