Alexander Wuttke, research assistant at the ITPL department, was honored with the prestigious Hans-Uhde Prize 2023 of the Hans-Uhde Foundation for his outstanding master's thesis in the field of engineering. The award ceremony took place on May 16, 2023 and was opened by Dr. Cord Landsmann, CEO of the Uhde Business Unit at thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions AG, and Prof. Dr. Manfred Bayer, the Rector of TU Dortmund University. Both speakers emphasized the importance of innovative research work and highlighted the importance of young academics in engineering.

As part of the event, Prof. Mario Botsch from the Faculty of Computer Science at TU Dortmund University gave a keynote speech on the topic "How do I get into the metaverse? Virtual avatars using 3D scanning". The lecture offered a fascinating insight into the world of virtual reality and showed how advanced technologies such as 3D scanning can be used to create realistic virtual avatars.

The award-winning master's thesis is titled "Development of a graph-based simulator for simulating logistics networks in a data farming framework." In his thesis he dealt with the development of an innovative simulator tool that allows to simulate complex logistics networks using a graph-based approach. This opens up new possibilities in the simulation-based investigation of logistics processes.

Alexander Wuttke held the speech of thanks on behalf of the total of eight honorees from the TU Dortmund as well as the FH Dortmund and addressed in particular his supervisor, his colleagues and his family for the support during his research work. Alexander Wuttke's award underscores the excellent research work being done at the ITPL department and at TU Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and emphasizes TU Dortmund University's position as a leading institution in the field of engineering. In addition to the university honorees, Dr. Henning Geinitz of thyssenkrupp was honored for his outstanding achievements in research and development.

The Hans Uhde Foundation aims to promote science, education and training. For 37 years it has presented annual awards for outstanding school and academic achievements.
