Participants in the first “SportING together” event
Through “SportING together,” the Department of Mechanical Engineering brings its staff together outside of their daily work routine. The successful kickoff beach volleyball event, with twelve participants, has sparked interest in more group activities.

Whether it’s playing beach volleyball, biking, or simply having a good time together: “SportING together” is a new initiative launched by the Department of Mechanical Engineering that brings together staff members from different research groups in a sporty and casual way.

The successful beach volleyball kickoff, with twelve participants from various research groups, has sparked enthusiasm for more joint activities.

Joint activities will continue to be held at irregular intervals in the future—for example, padel, soccer, or bike rides.

All employees of the Department of Mechanical Engineering are warmly invited—regardless of athletic experience or fitness level. The focus is on having fun while being active and getting to know people outside of one’s own working group.

The next meetings will be organized and coordinated via a WhatsApp group and via e-mail. The QR code to join the group was sent to all department staff in an email from Moritz Schulze Darup and Marcel Bartz dated July 29, 2026. If you can’t find the message anymore or have any questions, please feel free to contact the organizers.
