Prof. Brümmer from the Department of Fluid Power and Prof. Walther from the Chair of Materials Testing celebrated their 25th anniversary of service.

Prof. Andreas Brümmer received his doctorate in 1997 from the TU Braunschweig, where he worked for several years as a research assistant. After almost 10 years in industry, Prof. Brümmer accepted the call to TU Dortmund University, where he has been head of the Fluid Power Department since 2006. Prof. Frank Walther received his doctorate in 2002 and his habilitation in 2007 at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern, where he worked as a research associate and assistant. After working in industry, he accepted a professorship for materials testing technology at TU Dortmund University in 2010.

Of course, there have been many highlights in the 25 years. Prof. Brümmer is currently excited about the prospective research group 5595 "Oil-refrigerant multiphase flows in gaps with moving boundaries - Novel microscopic and macroscopic approaches for experiment, modeling, and simulation (Acronym: Archimedes)", which received a lot of positive feedback and a clear recommendation during the review during a walk-through at the TU Dortmund University and for which he is co-spokesperson (Spokesperson: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Richter, TU Chemnitz). Prof. Walther can also look back on numerous successes in his professional career. Of particular note is the DFG Research Group 5250 "Mechanism-based characterization and modeling of permanent and bioresorbable implants with tailored functionality based on innovative in vivo, in vitro and in silico methods", which was approved last year and of which he is the spokesperson.

On the occasion of their anniversary, the current Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Michael Henke, presented the two jubilarians with their 25th service anniversary certificates. Prof. Henke thanked Professors Brümmer and Walther for their service, especially here at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and wished them continued success and pleasure in their work and research in the future.
